I like to separate and appreciate each layer before reuniting them all in compositions of visual complexity. A river cascades over rocks: the current has creates patterns in the sand and mosaics of rocks (each one itself a billion years of geologic process); the water dances around the rocks and reflects light in endless ephemeral patterns; shadows from whatever is beside or in the water create yet more patterns. This composite performance is why looking at moving water can be hypnotic. |

installations. I am not interested in the representation of a stream. I want to evoke its energy – what it has been and what it is becoming at this moment.. My work becomes more and more abstract as I explore a subject. Iceland for me was ice melting, water falling, and water erupting due to intense thermal activity. My recent work is a response to these powerful and enduring phenomena. Gallery 1: Click the thumbnail photo on the left to view the enlarged photo on the right.
